JANUARY -APRIL 2006
TIGGER out of the water on Bere Island. Launched in April due to me doing some inshore trawling trips with a twin rigger., first angling trip of season on the 14th nice mixed bag and a few mackerel close in already. first trip to a wreck yields some nice fish and first specimen of the year with a Pollack of 12lb 8oz.A few cod starting to show close to shore by end of April. Weather is typically mixed at this time.
Attend the Irish Specimen awards in Dublin to pick up three personal awards for 2005 and also to meet with some Anglers to discuss the coming season.

MAY - AUGUST 2006
The Haddock are starting to show in quite good numbers with some decent fish over 5lb being caught. Also some nice Cod appearing as well, nothing big but some nice fish in the 6-10lb bracket.

Pollack are on the reefs and feeding right up high in the water as the first of the baitfish shoals arrive.

Poor weather towards the end of May stops us from getting out.

In June we start getting a few  haddock but not many !! Big pollack to 11lb 9oz caught on the inshore reefs near Dursey Island.

16lb Ling caught on 5th June and a Pollack of 10lb 3oz, Great weather around the middle of June but very slack fishing everywhere.

On 14th June we wreck fish with Gary Knowles and his mates from UK. We have 26 Ling,  with 5 of them between 15lb & 18lb. Start to catch some reasonable Haddock at last around the 16th June and on the 17th we have one right on 6lb with several in the 4-5lb range.

On the 23rd June we have a nice mixed bag with Pollack to 11lb, Haddock to 41/2lb, cod to 6lb, Ling to 9lb, whiting to 2lb and several small dabs.

1st Sunfish spotted on the 3rd July along with some porpoises. Several Ling taken of the reefs around this time, all around the 15lb -18lb range.

First trip for Blue shark on the 15th July results in three hook ups but none landed!!!! A little disgruntled and obviously a bit ring rusty.

Over the course of a week with the same group and between two boats a total of 42 sharks are hooked and 32 landed, tagged and released. The biggest at 106lb caught by Colin Thornley.

On 5th August Haddock to about 5lb, i cod about 6lb, i Ling about 14lb  and then anchor for conger, catch about 20 in two hours with all released at side of boat, biggest one in excess of 45lb.

A specimen Pollack on 11th August at 12lb 4oz, fishing really quite poor though around this time partly due to a lot of brown plankton algae in the water.

Nice Cod at 15lb on the 26th August and on the 27th we have 10 cod between 6-9lb around Crow Head.

SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER 2006

On 7th September we have one shark and one other take which takes off for the horizon and just doesn't stop!!!!

We also try to entice a large wreckfish from under the boat and have one take unfortunatley on a Garfish set up and it straightens the size 2 aberdeen hook in seconds!!! One Spurdog about 5lb as well .

Another two shark tagged on the 12th September, both caught by Belgian anglers and one of them at 103lb

Unfortunately,  the rest of September and beginning of October is blighted by poor weather. I also lose my mother to cancer . So my season finishes prematurely and some wreck trips we have planned for end of September and beginning of October with Mel Russ from Sea Angler magazine are cancelled.

My first Bass from the shore of the winter season was caught 26th of November and from then to end of December, i caught nine Bass, best about 51/2lb all caught on Fladen plugs at various spots around the peninsula.
